Peer Tutoring

Free tutoring is available on a drop-in basis during evening study hours for "high risk" courses such as chemistry, economics, math, foreign languages, and physics. Tutors are carefully selected and participate in a comprehensive training program. The tutoring service is designed to provide assistance with course content in a manner which facilitates the development of independent, efficient and self-confident learners. A schedule is published each semester.  Tutoring can be beneficial to both cadets who are doing well and simply wish to ask a few questions or reinforce concepts and to those who are having difficulty.

Tutoring offers:

  • assessment of learning needs and clarification of material
  • information about the learning process and active study methods
  • opportunities for increased success and self-confidence

Tutoring does not offer:

  • a quick fix the night before a test
  • an "answer man"
  • a substitute for attending/paying attention during class
  • a substitute for meeting with the course instructor
