Oh, To Be In England

Spring 2005





The annual Department of English and Fine Arts trip to England took place during the week of Spring Furlough, 2005. Cadets who participated were

Faculty who accompanied them were Profs. Kurt Ayau and Pennie Ticen.

Cadets saw three plays,The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit, and American playwright Dennis McIntyre's contemporary National Anthems, starring Kevin Spacey, at the Old Vic. In London, they took a bus tour of the city, visited the Globe Theatre, the British Museum, Winchester Cathedral and the Tower of London and saw the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.

The group also took a day-trip Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, and Warwick Castle, and took part in a specially arranged ceremony at Canterbury Cathedral to Honor VMI alumnus and Anglican martyr, Jonathan Daniels.
