EN300: Shakespeare's Tragedies.

This is a chronological study of Shakespeare's tragedies. We shall try to study one play every two weeks. I expect you to have read the play by the beginning of each two week section. We will watch together at 7:30 pm on alternate Monday nights in the Library Projection Room on Preston's fourth floor a film version of each play, and we will spend the rest of the two weeks discussing the play and its various film versions. Films of the plays are on reserve in the library; you may use these to help your reading - but be aware that they may differ from the script in your textbook. This is a writing intensive class; you will be required to submit both informal and formal essays on each play. You will also have major papers due before midterm and at the semester's end
