Oh, To Be In England

The VMI Department of English & Fine Arts Trip to England

In the Spring of 2001, the VMI Department of English and Fine Arts took the first of its annual trips to England, funded through the generosity of the late Stan Navas, VMI Class of 1941, and his Navas-Read Fund. The trip is open primarily to English majors and minors, as well as to cadets taking Spring courses in English literature. Cadets and faculty chaperones stay in London for the week of Spring Furlough, see plays, tour the Globe Theatre and museums of art and history, and visit literary landmarks inside and outside London, including Stratford-upon-Avon and Canterbury. The fund pays for all the students' airfare, lodging, play tickets, museum tours, and excursions. To read more about the trip and see photographs, click the image of the Globe below.
